Aware of the huge challenge that the coaching needs of such a large authority would bring, we now feel we have learnt such a great deal, and have the tools and the inspiration between us to develop a coaching culture within Kent County Council.
Catherine Mannerings, Training & Development Officer, Kent County Council
Last year 12 colleagues in Personnel and Development undertook the ILM Coaching and Mentoring Award.delivered by QED. All 12 successfully completed the qualification and have been coaching ever since. I was one of the 12 and am pleased to say that we are about to run another programme. Since the award I have introduced a Coaching/Mentoring Strategy into my organisation and hope to see it grow from strength to strength.
Coral Ingleton, Training & Development Manager, Kent Council
Earlier this year I gained a Diploma in Management Coaching and Mentoring as part of a programme delivered in-company by QED. I really liked the balance of having a structured, professionally delivered programme complemented by individually focused and flexible support from QED.
I have since set up my own business and find that I am able to integrate coaching and mentoring into my work in many ways, and I still use the materials that were provided by QED as part of their programme. I have recommended QED to a colleague who wants to gain a formal coaching qualification.
Carol Sharp, Ex Assistant Director, Kent County Council
The Level 3 ILM Coaching programme gave me the opportunity to venture into something that has not only developed my skills but has also allowed me to help in the development of others. The whole experience was positive and with such a supportive group we have all come far. Coaching is now enabling me to give teachers in my school an alternative, and more empowering, way to problem solve.
Christina Cone - Goldsworth Primary School, Woking
I am not often led to provide testimonials for training but have been so impressed with QED in the delivery of the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching that I felt obliged to add my comments. From the organisation of the training through to the delivery and discussion of the new and often challenging concepts, QED were professional, understanding and consistent in their approach at all times. I would thoroughly recommend them to any organisation embarking on such a course of study.
Nicky Whichelow - Business and Marketing Manager/Business and Wellness Coach, Kent County Council
I have recently spent a very interesting and enjoyable 6 months working with QED on their ILM Coaching and Mentoring Course. I started to use the coaching skills even before the course ended, and the skills have proved very useful in almost every aspect of my work, from line management to stakeholder management, and of course in my coaching activities. Every member of our group passed and the course also provided an opportunity to form a useful additional network of colleagues. It was, in my opinion; very good value for money.
Jacky Scobell - Strategy Manager, Kent County Council
The course was well delivered by thoroughly experienced professional coaches. The training was targeted to our needs as sessions were expertly managed to meet the learning style of our group. The experience was challenging and very rewarding. At first the skills needed to be a successful coach seemed distant, but in the four sessions with Julia and Jackie I had developed enough confidence to coach my colleagues effectively.

Having run a small gardening business for 10 years I realised we needed advice as new gardening companies were beginning to operate in the area and were becoming a threat. We had always let the work come to us and relied heavily on our existing, loyal customer base as up to now there had been no competition. We had become complacent. QED brought us up to date and helped us identify the areas that needed improving, to prevent our customers trying these new competitors but to also provide a faster, sleeker business that moves with the times. We realised that not only did this professional help improve the way the business was run but it also had a knock on effect as more doors and opportunities opened for us as we became and looked a more professional competitor.
Becky Hollands - Malcolm Thomsett Gardening
I found the business coaching programme a very valuable experience, especially to spend time reviewing my work life balance. As freelance learning and development trainer and consultant this was an opportunity to meet others who are also self employed and who run small businesses. The activities were well planned and structured to offer a range of development tools for us to use in both the 'business growth' and 'life balancing' challenges we encounter daily.
My personal coach was often an inspiration to me, the reflective approach she used suited my style, and I used her suggestions to review my own situation and future goals.

We have been piloting a variety of programmes during the past few months, to enable us to make an informed decision on which will be the best for helping to develop our supervisory managers, and make them better able to cope with what is a rapidly changing environment for them.
The feedback received from those attending the QED Coaching Taster was some of the most positive I have had so far. People seemed to like the realistic approach and have indicated to me that they have taken away some real tools that they will definitely be able to use in their day-to-day work.
Jon Payne, Station Manager, Learning & Development, Essex Fire Service
I have recently completed the V1 Award with QED. My experience of the whole process was positive, as advice and support from the assessor was accessible and beneficial. Effectively, the award was made 'simple & straight forward'. Achieving this award has enabled an increase within my overall understanding of the health and social care standards. I am now assisting others in attaining their V1, in addition to participating more in the coordination and development of the assessment centre.
QED has also enabled a number of managers attain their A1 awards, which has increased the assessing capacity of the assessment centre, and increased the numbers of candidates able to achieve an NVQ.
Many thanks.
Julie Male, Service Director, Umbrella
Last year we set up an assessment centre to offer a new award. The assistance we had from QED in setting up the centre, applying for centre status from the awarding body and for training our assessors has been invaluable. The award has been fraught with difficulty and the ongoing assistance and support from Julia Miles and the professional team from QED has enabled us to manage the expectations of candidates and assessors and to handle the relationship with the Awarding Body. I would recommend the services of QED without hesitation.
Hilary Grayson, Head of Training & Assessment. SAVA (Surveyors and Valuers Association)
I would like to commend QED for their very professional approach that enabled me to achieve my Assessor Award in a seamless and undaunting way. At first I had doubts regarding the qualification but these were quickly extinguished and now I am looking forward to achieving my Verifier Award forthwith. I would personally like to thank Julia and the team for all their efforts and the sympathetic approach they encouraged.
Gary Reynolds Bsc (Hons) MRICS - Reynolds Surveyors
This year I embarked on a programme of development of my assessment skills by contracting with QED to deliver the A1 assessors award. The qualification was delivered very professionally and efficiently by QED staff. In addition, I am gaining great results from this initiative.
Larry Russen - Managing Director, Russen & Turner Ltd
I had the advantage of attending one of Julia Miles' Hit the Road Running workshops. It encouraged me to hit the pause button long enough to take a good look at the way my business was performing, and on a personal level, how I was performing in it. Was it all worthwhile? Yes, without doubt. In the past year, using her tips and pointers, I have been able to grow my business and at the same time seriously improve my work/life balance. Julia's formula really did work.
Mike Steer, Director Payline
As a new business owner , I have found the QED programme to be an invaluable forum for guidance on 'making it' in the world of business. I highly recommend this programme to any self employed person who runs a business, either to tighten up your ship and become more successful in what you do or to learn what you need to know to start up a new business.
Vivian Hassan-Lambert - HR Consultant/Trainer
I have learned a great deal on the QED programme and made some valuable friendships along the way. My income has doubled since I first started, but more importantly, I find myself on the right vocational track. QED has helped me align vision with sound business practise.
Martina Watts - Nutritionist
I am sure that I am speaking on behalf of Faustino and I in thanking you and your team for an interesting and personally challenging year of coaching. The most tangible benefit to me personally is the recognition and acceptance without guilt that I have the right to enjoy a life outside of work.
